How to clean a security camera lens

Overtime your security camera lens may get mucky meaning the clarity of your video recordings will be reduced, if you have started to notice this then it is likely that your lens needs cleaning. This is a really easy task to carry out but you must be careful to ensure you do not damage your lens. Follow these simple steps on how to clean your security camera lens.

1. Switch it off – firstly you will need to switch off your equipment to ensure you don’t damage any moving parts of your camera.

2. Using compressed air (you can purchase cans of compressed air from hardware shops) blow off any dirt and dust from the camera lens.

3. Use a microfibre cloth to wipe your lens, ensure you do this gently only applying minimal pressure. You can use a specific lens cleaner if required but make sure you wipe after with a microfibre cloth to ensure you leave no smudges.

Now the task is complete, you should aim to repeat this process once every month.
